Terms of Service

Unilighter is lighting control software and related services. The Service includes our website, the Unilighter applications we make available (including web and desktop clients), account and cloud features, and any other tools we provide now or later.

Available functions may depend on your device, operating system, plan, and the version you use. Hardware support, local storage, offline use, and optional add-ons may be offered but are not guaranteed on every platform. We may add, change, or remove functionality. Planned or experimental capabilities are not promised.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes that organization.

Account registration currently uses an email address and password. You are responsible for providing accurate information, keeping your credentials confidential, all activity under your account, and notifying us at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.

We may refuse, suspend, or reclaim accounts that violate these Terms, appear abandoned, or present a security or abuse risk.

Unilighter currently offers a Free plan and a Pro plan. During Open Beta, plan details, prices, and included entitlements may change.

3.1 Free plan

The Free plan is intended for learning, exploring, configuring projects, experimenting with Unilighter features, and testing with DMX hardware. It includes cloud synchronization and is limited to one active project. Continuous DMX output is limited to 30 minutes per session; editing and configuration can continue after output stops. Creating or duplicating additional projects may be blocked while the project limit applies. We may change plan limits or eligibility for future use.

3.2 Pro plan

Pro is intended for uninterrupted production use and provides continuous DMX output, additional project capacity, and related access described on the pricing page. Open Beta pricing and promotional discounts are temporary. When a paid term expires or payment cannot be verified, access should return to Free-plan behavior.

3.3 Downgrades

If Pro access ends, you may need to choose one active Free project. Other projects may become inaccessible until you upgrade again. We do not promise that inaccessible projects will remain stored indefinitely, but we will not treat a downgrade as an immediate deletion of all extra projects.

3.4 Fees and processors

Paid billing, when enabled, may be handled by third-party payment processors. Taxes, currency, renewal, and refund rules will be presented at checkout or in a later billing addendum. Unless required by law, Open Beta fees are non-refundable. Promotional pricing applies only to the billing period for which it is offered. Renewals are charged at the price and with any promotions applicable at the time of renewal. A price change does not retroactively change a billing period that has already been paid.

“User Content” includes show files, fixture data, and other materials you create, upload, or sync through the Service.

You retain ownership of your User Content. You grant Unilighter a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, back up, transmit, and display User Content solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service, including cloud sync and optional add-ons you choose to use.

You represent that you have the rights needed to use and store your User Content. Local copies on your devices remain under your control. You are responsible for exporting or otherwise backing up show files that matter for a production.

We may remove or restrict User Content that violates these Terms, creates a security risk, or is required to be removed by law.

The Service may send control data to lighting and related equipment through supported interfaces. Live lighting and electrical equipment can cause injury, property damage, show failure, or audience harm, including risks to people with photosensitive conditions.

You are solely responsible for your fixtures, power, data links, and controllers; device permissions, drivers, and compatibility; venue safety, audience warnings, and backup consoles; verifying output on the actual rig; and any decision to run Unilighter as a primary or backup desk.

Previews, remote control, and offline use do not replace on-site checks or a backup console. The Service may stop working if an application is closed, a device sleeps, a network drops, or a permission is revoked.

You agree not to:

• probe, disrupt, or overload the Service, or attempt unauthorized access to accounts, projects, or infrastructure;
• share login credentials or resell the Service except as we expressly allow;
• upload malware or content that is unlawful, infringing, or harmful;
• use the Service to control lighting or effects in a way that intentionally endangers people or property;
• misrepresent your identity, plan status, or automated output as a human-certified safety check; or
• reverse engineer the Service except where applicable law allows.

Unilighter may offer optional or experimental AI assistance. Where provided, it is for show preparation only and must not be relied on for live playback, hardware output, or safety-critical decisions.

If you use these features, prompts and selected show-preparation data may be sent to Unilighter and to third-party providers. Output can be incomplete or incorrect. You must review, test, and approve all changes before using them on a rig.

Access may be gated, limited, or withdrawn. Providers and availability can change without notice.

The Service, including the Unilighter name, logo, software, documentation, and non-user content, is owned by Unilighter or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service for your internal lighting-design and production purposes in accordance with your plan.

Feedback you send us may be used to improve the Service without obligation to you.

The Service is provided during an Open Beta and may contain bugs, data-loss risks, latency, or breaking changes. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, any particular performance or hardware compatibility, or that cloud sync will complete before a show.

The Service depends on operating systems, client software, hosting providers, and, where enabled, AI and payment vendors. Their terms and outages are outside our control.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, UNILIGHTER DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR SUITABLE AS THE SOLE LIGHTING CONSOLE FOR ANY EVENT.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, UNILIGHTER AND ITS OPERATORS, CONTRACTORS, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, SHOW TIME, EQUIPMENT, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, INCLUDING DAMAGES ARISING FROM FAILED CUES, WRONG PATCH, STROBE OR MOVEMENT OUTPUT, HARDWARE INCOMPATIBILITY, OR CLOUD/SYNC FAILURE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO UNILIGHTER FOR THE SERVICE IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS; IN THOSE CASES THE LIMIT APPLIES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED.

You will defend and indemnify Unilighter against claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising from your User Content, your hardware or venue use, your violation of these Terms, or your use of the Service in a live production.

You may stop using the Service at any time. You may request account deletion by emailing [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate access immediately if you breach these Terms, if we discontinue the Service, or if we must do so for security or legal reasons.

After termination, local copies may remain on your devices until you delete them. Cloud copies may be deleted or made inaccessible after a reasonable period, except where we must retain records.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change, and the revised Terms will be posted at unilighter.cc/terms.html. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If a change is material, we may also provide notice through the website or the Service.

These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Unilighter regarding the Service and supersede prior terms for the same subject. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization or sale of the Service.

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Unilighter’s operation of the Service, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts with competent jurisdiction may hear disputes, except where applicable law requires another forum. You also agree to try to resolve disputes informally by contacting us first.
